REMARKS: Illinois Watch Company 18 Size Bunn Special 21J Model 6 Pocket Watch with Rare Salesman’s Case and Dial Combination.  The ‘Illinois Watch Co. Springfield’ wording has been engraved to both front bezel and edge of caseback to show that this was an original Salesman’s pocket watch.  It is a nickle case with front and back glass lens.  It is a real treat for collectors and admirers of Antique American Pocket Watches knowing that this pocket watch was used as a display sample retailers and wholesalers.  The dial is also made for this purpose as it has the characteristic Illinois Watch Co Gothic text and markers and the inner ‘Double Sunk’ piece is actually just a recess in the dial without welding the inner and outer pieces together.  The movement it itself is an Illinois Watch Co. 18 size Bunn Special 21j Model 6 that was made in 1906.  Illinois 18 size Bunn Special movements are some of the most finely decorated amongst all of the American railroad grade movements with its high density of engine turned patterns.

CONDITION REPORT: Condition-wise the watch is winding and running well but we do not make any guarantee on timekeeping or function as we don’t know its service history.  We strongly recommend to have antique pocket watches fully serviced before putting it to regular use and this will help extend the life of the timepiece as well.  The decision and responsibility to service the watch is made solely by the end-user.  Cosmetically the watch is in very good shape with slight oxidation or rust to the bright works parts on the movement.  The Salesman’s Display Case is in great shape with no dings/or dents.  The enamel dial is in excellent shape with no hairline cracks or chips.  There is a very slight scratch at the very outer periphery of the 19min marker.  Diameter is 54mm.
