This rarely seen Dubey & Schaldenbrand ‘Index-Mobile’ Split Seconds Rattrapante Chronograph Wristwatch for sale. The Index-Mobile Split Seconds Chronograph mechanism was originally invented by the founder of Dubey & Schaldenbrand Mr. Rene Schaldenbrand. This split seconds chronograph mechanism utilized a hairspring attached to the bottom center seconds hand to perform the splitting function by pressing down the button on the crown. Different from the regular split seconds mechanism this ‘index-mobile’ design only splits the upper & lower center seconds hand when user presses and holds the split seconds button. Once the button is released the hands catch up into one superimposed hand again. This particular specimen was one of the few re-edition of this famous rattrapante chronograph watches in the 1990s and it comes with transparent sapphire crystal in the back. The index-mobile mechanism has been fitted to a hand winding Landeron 248 movement. Watch case is pure stainless steel gold plated. There is no official figure as to how many re-editions were made but it certainly was no more than 100-200pcs.
