REMARKS: Vintage Movado Ermeto Ladies/Unisex Purse Watch with Date in 18K Solid Gold.  Movado’s Ermeto was perhaps the best known purse watch in the 1940s when this type of novelty timepiece was popular, where they made many variations from stainless steel case to platinum cased ones.  This particular specimen is rarely seen with 18K solid yellow gold case that has a woven fabric pattern engraved.  In addition, much fewer ladies size purse watches survive and this one also has date function.  As a top-quality vintage collectible timepiece this gives the user a sense of nostalgia and a feeling of absolute quality and delicacy in one’s hand.

CONDITION REPORT: Condition-wise the purse watch winds, sets and the date function works.  The original case sliding back and forth winding mechanism works flawlessly.  The case opening and closing is also nice and tight, along with the overall great condition it shows the timepiece is in excellent shape.  However, we do not know its service history so we cannot guarantee timekeeping accuracy or longevity.  We strongly recommend to have antique pocket watches fully serviced before putting it to regular use and this will help extend the life of the timepiece as well.  The decision and responsibility to service the watch is made solely by the end-user.  Cosmetically this Movado Ermeto Purse Watch is in excellent shape with it original engraved woven finish still sharp to the touch.  The surface does have some tarnish for which we have not had it wiped off for the sake of keeping it as original as possible.  Some gold-tone hour markers have tarnished, the silver dial is very clean.  Dimensions are 41mm (wide) X 25mm (long), total weight 59.7g.
