Museum & Heirloom Quality Patek Philippe Minute Repeater Antique Pocket Watch with Archival Paper.  This incredible pocket watch was sold through the preeminent jeweler Spaulding & Co. of Chicago in 1893 which makes it more than 130 years old!  Based on the Patek Philippe archival paper, this watch has a 17’’’lignes (38mm) lever escapement with minute repeater function and made into an open faced bassine-style rose gold pocket watch.  The case and movement are signed with Patek Philippe trademark, whereas the white enamel dial is signed with Spaulding & Co. Chicago complemented by Gold Filigree hands.  All 3 hands look to be original to the watch.  The movement of this Patek Philippe Minute Repeater is a top grade one in nickle finish with jewels to hammers and wolf teeth winding wheels.  Based on the full jeweling to all pivots on the top plate of the movement there are at least 31 jewels to this pocket watch.  Patek Philippe’s minute repeater movement measuring less than 40mm often have a finesse not found in larger movement sizes with their slightly curved train bridges and fine chamfering throughout.

CONDITION REPORT: Condition-wise this pocket watch even at 130+ years old it runs, sets, and minute repeater chimes with a pleasing light tone.  The minute repeater striking is accurate and the tone is generally clear in sound with a slight rattle to the minute gong.  However, due to the age and fragile nature of this historical timepiece we will not provide warranty of any kind.  We certainly do not guarantee timekeeping accuracy or longevity.  130+ year old parts can simply malfunction at any time and should be treated with the utmost respect and care when handling the watch.  With that said the watch should operate normally as long as it is used with care and caution.  Cosmetically this pocket watch is in excellent shape considering its age and fragile nature.  The enamel dial has no hairline crack or chip, all of the hands are original to the watch.  The 18K solid rose gold case has a great shiny luster and except for the caseback having a slight shallow dent and small ding, it is in truly beautiful shape.  Even the movement is in super clean shape.  Overall this antique pocket watch is one of the best specimen we’ve ever come across in terms of prestige and quality.  Diameter is 46mm, total weight 74.2g.
