REMARKS: Marvelous and highly scarce Antique Elgin 18K Solid Gold 8-Size Pocket Watch Circa 1878 with highly ornate Black Enamel Heavy Gauge Drum Style Hunter Case. Even for a watch only 42mm in diameter it is really heavy at 72 grams total weight. Besides its obvious high value in the 18K solid gold, it’s also astoundingly ornate and classic with the best American enamel work on both front and back case covers. On the body of the case it is adorned with deeply engine-turned screw thread decorations which make the entire watch a marvel to behold. Inside the watch an Elgin Grade 65 gilt movement serves as the timekeeper since 1878.
CONDITION REPORT: Condition-wise the watch runs slightly and stops showing sluggish balance action with good balance staff and gears so it only needs servicing to get it running well. We don’t offer any guarantee on function and operation for it. It will require full service to run normally.
