REMARKS: We are listing this 4-Start Rarity Illinois Watch Co. Grade 439 Extra 21 Jewels 12 Size 14K White Gold with Enamel Adornment Pocket Watch for sale. A 4-Star Rarity American Pocket Watch is indeed very scarce as based on record on 330 examples of this movement was made. It can be surmised that it was only produced in a very short while since other models took its place, including the top quality and also scarce Illini Extra models. This particular watch also has an enamel-adorned caseback which also has a hammering finish that is very unique. We think this is probably one of the only examples of the Illinois Aristoctra Grade 439 Extra that comes in this case finish. In 1921 when this pocket watch was made it was certainly sold as a top model for the brand in 14K white gold case that most probably retailed over $130 at the time.
CONDITION REPORT: Condition-wise the watch runs and sets normally, but we cannot guarantee any functional or mechanical elements as this is an antique timepiece over 100 years in age. We recommend for any and all antique pocket watches to undergo service by a trusted watchmaker to extend its usage life. Cosmetically this watch is in very good condition with just slight discoloration to the outer rim of the dial. The dial finish complements that of the hammered caseback with a sanded-gristly finish that is rarely seen. Case and movement are both in excellent shape. Diameter is 44mm, total weight is 46.3g.
