REMARKS: One of the most spectacular Multi-Color Solid 14K Gold Pocket Watches we’ve ever had in this Elgin Grade 2 Model 3 Pocket Watch with a stunning Locomotive Steam Train on the caseback.  In addition, this pocket watch also has true Box-Hinge Case and a Top-Quality Fancy Multi-Color Dial that makes it an awesome package.  The Locomotive Steam Train subject matter is rarest and one of the most desirable amongst Multi-Color Antique American Pocket Watches and this particular specimen is in incredible condition from 1882!  This is definitely a cream-of-the-crop Antique American Pocket Watches that is museum worthy.  Besides having an ultra-luxurious true Box-Hinge Case, the front and back covers are adorned with Multi-Color Appliques, and on the Caseback a Masterfully Engraved Steam Train is Rolling Down the Railroad with Grayish-White smoke coming from its chimney.  The hand-painted Multi-Color Dial has Blue Arabic Numerals along with Lavendar, Red, Gold and Black Colors.  It is a piece of artwork deserving to be appreciated by itself.  This watch is impressive even for the layman who is not familiar with rare pocket watches let alone the antique watch collector who will see satisfaction from every facet of this watch.. Inside the watch is an Elgin 16 Size 13 jewel movement from year 1882.

CONDITION REPORT: Condition-wise the watch runs and sets well.   We do not make any guarantee to its function or timekeeping.  We recommend for all antique watches to be serviced before usage at the owner’s discretion.  Cosmetically there are a few hairlines and a small chip on the multi-color dial.  There is a hairline running from center post to 12 min marker and shorter ones from center post to 58sec marker on the subdial as well as a small hairline right on top of the 7th hour marker.  These appear to be surface glaze cracks and since no dirt has accumulated in them they are hard to see.  There is also a small chip right above of the 60sec area of the subdial.  The 14K multi-color case is in excellent shape with no dings, dents or personalization.  There is a slight bit of wavy unevenness on the plain section of the front cover.  The Locomotive Steam Engine Engraving is sharp to the touch indicating this is a rarely used watch in Excellent Condition.  This is really a museum or heirloom grade antique timepiece.  Diameter is 51mm, total weight is 131.8g.
