HAMILTON 16-Size 51mm Open Face 950B Railway Special 23j Enamel Dial Gold Filled Railroad Watch w/Rare Original Brown Bakelite Box

REMARKS: Very collectible Hamilton 950B Railway Special Pocket Watch with its original Brown (with a shade of red) Bakelite Box from the 1940s.  Hamilton 950B is considered to be one of the best Railroad Pocket Watches produced by Hamilton Watch Co. having all of the bells and whistles that makes it a top notch precision timepiece.  Features such as 23 ruby jewels, motor barrel, gold jewel settings, 6 adjustments and fine regulator all make it a great watch.  Our particular 950B we have is an excellent example with ‘23 Jewels Railway Special’ text on enamel dial.  The Brown Bakelite Box has a nice reddish undertone and is rarely seen still accompanying its original watch is really awesome and makes the set extra collectible.

CONDITION REPORT: Condition-wise the watch winds and runs well but we cannot guarantee any functional or mechanical elements as this is a vintage timepiece over 80 years in age.  We do not guarantee timekeeping accuracy or longevity for this watch.  It has not been serviced and we recommend for any and all antique pocket watches to undergo service by a trusted watchmaker to extend its usage life.  Cosmetically there is a slight chip on the outer edge of the dial between 8-9 o’clock position.  Besides this slight issue there is no other hairline or condition defects with this enamel dial.  There is no brassing wear through on the gold filled case and there are some surface scratches.  Glass crystal is also in good shape.  The scarce Brown Bakelite Box is in excellent shape overall.  Diameter is 51mm, Watch Case is 10K-gold filled.  Based on the serial number this watch was produced in 1943.
