REMARKS: Wonderful A. Lange & Sohne Top Quality 1A 18K Solid Gold Open Faced Pocket Watch with an Angel & Beaver Engaving on the Caseback.   This pocket watch was made from an early era of the A. Lange watch manufacturer since it is only signed with A. Lange and Dresden on the dial as well as A. Lange & Sohne Dresden & Glashutte on the movement indicating it was made around 1870s when the first of the Lange Sons jointed the business. Nevertheless, the high quality of work is evident from this earliest era of the famed watch brand, this particular specimen was made to be a top grade watch that could rival the best watches in the world. This watch has all of the fine features such as Saxony-style Glashutte ¾ plate layout, diamond end-stone, solid gold escape wheel & fork, blued-screws and much more. This particular specimen also comes in a scarce nickle movement with inlaid gold engravings. A touch of artistic personalization on the caseback shows an Angel with wings on top of initials and a beaver underneath. The 18K solid gold case matches the serial number with the movement showing that all parts of this watch are original.

CONDITION REPORT: Condition-wise the watch is in good operational order where the winding and running well. We do not make guarantee on timekeeping accuracy or operation. For any antique watch movement we always recommend for the owner to conduct full service with qualified watchmaker to ensure longevity of the mechanism. Cosmetically the watch is in very good condition for its 150 years old age with the case in great shape that nearly all of the engravings are still clearly defined and visible. The enamel dial is free of hairlines or cracks. Movement has a bit of rust and oxidization on the winding wheels but not enough to distract against the beauty of finish. The crown has worn down a bit. This watch is very large and heavy at 53.5mm and 154.8g total weight.
