Bulgari Papillon Wandering Minutes Bi-Retro 18K White Gold Jump Hour ‘Heure Sautante’ Automatic Mens Wristwatch made with Daniel Roth inspired double ellipse case.  This watch has reference 102338 with case reference BRRW45GPAP.  As a designer and watch entrepreneur, Mr. Daniel Roth was one of the most famous in the world with his unique ‘double ellipse’ watch case.  He was also well-known for reviving the modern Breguet brand and bring the classic styles of Breguet pocket watches to become today’s wristwatch styles.  His ‘Papillon’ Jump Hour watch was designed in 1998 to celebrate his brand’s 10^th anniversary and it has become a highly coveted collectors timepiece.  In year 2000 the Daniel Roth brand was acquired by Bulgari (Bvlgari) and ever since then watches were made by Bulgari as one of their haute horology line along with Gerald Genta.  This particular Papillon features a very special ‘wandering minutes’ function where there are two opposing minute hands in perpendicular angles located within the inner center circle of the dial and as one hand approaches the end of the retrograde arc, the opposing hand ‘flips’ and starts on the new hour.  This is an ingenious design similar to the Audemars Piguet ‘Star Wheel’ and Urwerk’s UR-105 Models.  In addition the Bulgari Daniel Roth Papillon has the bi-retro jump hour display to show time which in itself is quite the marvel.  Inside the watch an in-house manufacture Cal.BVL252 movement by Bulgari.  Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) is $38,900.
