REMARKS: Highly sculptural artform of a wristwatch in this Vintage Omega De Ville ‘Gilbert Albert Design Maille d’Or’ 18K Gold Bracelet Hand-Winding Mechanical Watch Ref. 8272. The specialty patented bracelet for this watch was designed by the famous Swiss Jeweler-Designer Mr. Gilbert Albert who was behind the much famed Patek Philippe ‘Ricochet’ watches. Mr. Albert specialized in making ultra-luxe gold metalwork as well as incorporating unique materials into his jewelry. This particular design he made for Omega was in 1965, the bracelet is formed by welding many tree branch-like gold bars to manufacture the bracelet. The result is a stunning bracelet that represents coral growth stalks and it really has an appearance of waves and nature’s creation from deep undersea. The watch was originally designed for Men but today it is perfectly fitting for Ladies to wear as an extravagant gold bracelet. The bracelet measures 25.5mm across which makes it quite the statement piece in terms of both girth and heft. Another interesting design is the cut quartz crystal used for the head of the watch.
CONDITION REPORT: Condition-wise the watch runs and sets but we have not had it serviced and do not offer timekeeping or longevity guarantee for vintage or antique timepieces, please perform service with reputable watchmaker at your own discretion. PLEASE DO NOT EXPOSE IT TO MOISTURE OR DIP IT IN WATER AS IT IS NOT ASSUMED TO BE WATER RESISTANT. Cosmetically the watch is in great shape for its age, the quartz crystal does have a few small chips to be expected from a watch of this age. The bracelet is tight and straight and in excellent shape. Overall the watch appears to have been treasured and well-kept all of these years and it’s in wear-ready shape. It will wear up to 7.3” inches in length (one notch on clasp) and it should easily accommodate wrists from 6.8”-7.3” inches. Dimension is 32mm (width) X 24mm (length), total weight is a very hefty 112g.
