Rare and highly collectible Rolex Oyster Perpetual Model 1002 with stunning ‘Shantung’ Mosaic Blue Dial which was produced in very limited numbers for the Japan market in the late 1960s to early 1970s to carry this special dial. Supposedly the ‘Shantung’ style dial was produced by weaving silk threads into the dial itself, and in vogue with today’s styling this particular speciman comes in wonderful BLUE colorway that also looks to be violet at certain angles. The serial number is 2.81 million which is a perfect match to the dates when this special model was produced for the Japanese market. On the caseback it retains the name and date of its first owner dated 11-21-72.
