REMARKS: This is a B. Poitevin Fab. Branded Minute Repeater 18K Solid Gold Pocket Watch that was made in France and Switzerland from the 1880-1890s.  Most French-labeled watch brands from that era actually had their movements made in Switzerland and imported to France for assembly into complete pocket watches.  B. Poitevin Fab. was a very high-end French watchmaking brand that specializes in complicated movements.  This watch has a scarce and extremely well-made movement in gilt finish along with nickle parts for the springs, winding wheels, and repeating hammers.  Gilt finish on a high-grade minute repeater is not often seen but it was the preferred movement finish for the French market.

CONDITION REPORT: Condition-wise the watch winds and runs well and the minute repeater works accurately to chime the time.  The sound of the minute repeating is loud and clear with no extortion so it sounds very pleasing.  We do not make guarantee only timekeeping accuracy or operation.  It has not been serviced by the seller and it’s under the sole discretion of the end-user in regards to service or maintenance.  For any antique watch movement we always recommend for the owner to conduct full service with qualified watchmaker to ensure longevity of the mechanism.  Cosmetically the entire watch is in very good shape with only a few slight dings on the caseback.  The enamel dial has no hairlines or cracks, and the movement is in generally very good appearance as well with slight bit of tarnish to the winding wheels and part of the metal gong.  Overall it is just such an amazing historical timepiece in wonderful original shape.  No box or paperwork, guaranteed 100% original and authentic.  Diameter 51mm, total weight is 122.2g.
