REMARKS: 1920s Gruen Watch Co 12-Size ‘VeriThin’ Model V4 Pocket Watch with Extra Fancy Floral Pattern Two-Tone Dial and Highly Chase Engraved Open Face 14K 2-Tone Case.  First of all this pocket watch is very heavy for its size at 62.7g total weight.  Gruen Watch Co. was one of the greatest watch brands in the world spanning from 1910-late 1920s which combined the best of Swiss movement manufacturing with American case and design.  The Gruen VeriThin was the brand’s most popular model designed to be thinner than most 12-size dress pocket watches of the period but still highly robust and precise.  The result is a beautifully made watch in this Gruen VeriThin model V4 with 17 Ruby Jewels, Swan Neck Fine Regulator and 5 adjustments.  The dial design is simply stupendous with the gold applied Roman numerals highlighted with arches that forms flower petals inside the dial.  The base dial is engine-turned with sunray pattern to give it extra shine.  The 14K white and yellow gold two-tone case has deeply chase-engraved embellishment all around the bezel and edge of caseback.  Middle section of caseback was made with 14K white gold while rest of the case is in 14K yellow gold.

CONDITION REPORT: Condition-wise the watch winds and runs but we cannot guarantee any functional or mechanical elements as this is an antique timepiece over 100 years in age.  Cosmetically the caseback has some more obvious surface scratches which can be easily polished off.  The dial is in great shape with just slight bits of discoloration and tarnish.  The 14K case is in great shape in which it snaps tight and true and even the bow is quite tight.  There is no dings or dents anywhere, but there is a section on the caseback with more pronounced surface scratches.  Crystal is a plastic one.  Diameter is 46mm, total weight is 62.7g.
