REMARKS: Spectacular and scarce Hamilton 945 14K Solid Yellow Gold Open Face Pocket Watch with Original Box. The Hamilton 945 was one of the last pocket watch models made by this world-famous watch brand from 1956-1968. Sadly from 1969 the brand was sold off to Switzerland and this marked the end of mass watch manufacturing in the United States. This particular example of the Hamilton 945 was presented to honor 30th Anniversary working for Standard Oil Company of California in 1959 (currently rebranded as Chevron since 1984). At the time Hamilton 945 was the highest grade model in the brand’s collection that sold with 14K solid gold cases and having a 23 jewel top quality movement. On the dial there is the familiar Chevron logo with three stacked arrows to form a shield.
CONDITION REPORT: Condition-wise the watch winds and runs well but we cannot make any guarantee on function as it is over 66 years old and we have not had it serviced. It looks like a strong runner so it needs nothing more than regular service to get it running superbly. Cosmetically the watch is in excellent shape for its age with the caseback personalized with engraving. The movement surface is very clean without rust.
