REMARKS: Rare Chas E. Jacot 18K Hunter Case Pocket Watch from the 1860s with Top Grade Movement and in Mint Condition. It’s almost impossible to find 18K solid gold cases from 160 years ago in this type of condition with almost no wear to the guilloche or engine turning. Chas E. Jacot was a Swiss Watchmaking Brand from Chaux-de-Fonds from the mid-1800s to the 1880s know for its high grade pocket watches and complications. It was one of the best makers from the Swiss Valleys as during that era Swiss watches were mostly made for other markets with few high grade finished products carrying the name of the maker and most of the specimen had generic ‘Swiss Bar’ movements. Chas E. Jacot products always had their distinctive layout and design, this particular one carrying a flared three-finger bridge movement with highly raised solid gold jewel settings and curiously reverse winding of mainspring counter-clockwise.
CONDITION REPORT: Condition-wise we believe this pocket watch was serviced in the past and it has not been used thereafter. It runs very well and appears to keep good time. However, since we have not had it serviced we do not make any guarantee on timekeeping accuracy or longevity. Antique pocket watches like this specimen will likely need full service to run normally, it is the sole decision and responsibility of end-user to service or not. The setting lever does not lock in place to set the time and will require the user to hold the lever and turn the crown to set time, we believe this is the original design of this movement. Cosmetically the case is in mint condition. The dial is nearly mint except for slight chipping to the sub-seconds chapter near the second hand hole. Movement is also very clean and crown is worned down. Diameter is 55mm, total weight is 144.2g.
