REMARKS: TOP GRADE Swiss Chronometer Quarter Repeater made by Non Magnetic Watch Co of American in 18K Pink Gold from 1900s (manufactured in Switzerland, marketed in USA).  Non Magnetic Watch Co. has been an important milestone in the advancement of watchmaking by using Palladium alloyed balance and hairspring to protect the watch against magnetism.  The alloy was invented by Paillard, a Frence scientist.  Non Magnetic Watch Co. acquired his patent for making Non Magnetic watches and first used high grade movements made in Switzerland to fit the balance and hairspring.  Very few of these watches were ever made in Switzerland since the operation moved to America within the first 2 years of founding the company.  This particular specimen of Non Magnetic Watch Co Quarter Repeater even has ‘Geneva N.M. Watch Co’ engraved on the movement indicating this was an early product during that period of relocation of the company.  The Quarter Repeater is absolutely top notch in every way, it has jewels to the hammers, fully capped jewels for the escapement, solid gold and PLATINUM balance screws, and a fully jeweled quarter repeater (approximately 32 jewels).  On the dustcover it is clearly engraved with ‘REPEATER CHRONOMETER’ along with ‘Paillard’s Patent Non Magnetic Balance and Spiral’.  Movement serial number also matches case serial number of 5892.

CONDITION REPORT: Condition-wise the watch is winding and running strong with excellent timekeeping.  The repeating functions work well with a good sound (could be off by 1/2min or so when repeating the quarters) that is nice and clear.  However, due to the age and fragile nature of this historical timepiece we will not provide warranty of any kind.  We certainly do not guarantee timekeeping accuracy or longevity.  120+ year old parts can simply malfunction at any time and should be treated with the utmost respect and care when handling the watch.  With that said the watch should operate normally as long as it is used with care and caution.  Cosmetically this quarter repeater chronometer pocket watch is in wonderful shape with an edge chips between 12-1 o’clock and 5-6 o’clock on the enamel dial.  The 18K pink gold case has very slight unevenness to the caseback and a flat dent to case band at 9 o’clock position.  Being that it is 120+ years old timepiece with soft gold case the overall condition is great.  Diameter is 50mm, total weight is 103.2g.
